According to Thales, the SquadNet radio combines a special network waveform with integrated GPS, Bluetooth and programmable encryption. The device offers reliable, secure and critical communications capabilities in an affordable package optimized for size, weight and performance. With secure voice transmission, location reports and data sharing options, as well as a long battery life, the user-friendly SquadNet is ideal for the dismounted soldier.

According to Thales, the automatic forwarding mode and the environment-resistant waveform ensure that communication with the SquadNet soldier radio is maintained seamlessly even under the most difficult propagation conditions in urban, forested and mountainous terrain, thus enabling a battle of the combined forces throughout the battlefield . It offers soldiers the opportunity to exchange information in real time, which increases the speed and precision of decisions.

"With Thales SquadNet, the Austrian Army will be one of the first European countries to use a state-of-the-art, software-defined radio system with full digital signal processing," says Hannes Boyer, CEO & Country Director Thales in Austria.
