From September 5 to October 9, 2022, the autumn phase of the Namejs 2022 military training cycle took place in Latvia. The focus this year was on the security of the Baltic States and Poland. In addition to national forces, parts of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battlegroups took part in the NATO exercise Silver Arrow, among other things.

Namejs is a national exercise series that has been held regularly across Latvia since 2014. According to the Latvian Armed Forces, further improvement of the command and control system of the national armed forces and strengthening of cooperation between the units were the goals of the autumn phase of Namejs 2022.

In addition, supply issues should be examined and improved, and procedures for air, sea and land operations should be integrated. Tactical training of units and headquarters for hybrid and conventional operations in conflict situations took place on site. The Latvian leadership wants the defense forces to be able to perform their tasks both independently and as part of the collective defense system.
