The companies MBDA Italia and Rheinmetall Italia want to examine the possibilities of cooperation in the field of air defense including disruptive technologies and have signed a memorandum of understanding.As Rheinmetall goes on to write in a statement, the use of national and European funding programs is also being considered.
   
Over a period of two years, the two companies intend to study joint business models for the Italian and international markets, according to the announcement. To this end, joint working groups for joint technology and business development are to be set up.MBDA Italia is part of the European guided missile supplier MBDA. According to the announcement, Rheinmetall Italia specializes in air defense and radar technology, with the company concentrating on short-range and close-range air defense systems.
