Slow internet – GDELS gives up locations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

As the local newspaper Nordkurier reports, General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) is giving up the locations in Oertzenhof and Pasenow just one year after the acquisition and concentrating its activities in Neubrandenburg.

The reason given by the company is the low speed of the Internet connection, which is eight to ten Mbit/s, compared to widespread speeds of 100 Mbit/s and higher. GDELS is not able to work under the circumstances because all locations of the international company have to be networked.

In dem Bericht wird der zögerliche Breitbandausbau beschrieben, der trotz verfügbarer Finanzmittel wegen komplizierter Ausschreibungen nicht vorankomme. Erst 2022 sei mit der Erschließung zu rechnen, was aber für GDELS und möglicherweise auch weitere Unternehmen in der Umgebung zu spät komme.
