As early as June 2023, the previous brand names were replaced by the brand “KNDS” (ESuTreported). According to KNDS, the legal name changes required special coordination with authorities, customers and suppliers. They were therefore implemented in a second step.
The group has planned to change names for all other subsidiaries by the end of 2024.
KNDS was created in 2015 through the merger of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter. The goals include contributing to the consolidation of the military land systems industry in Europe. As one of the first examples, the group presented the European Main Battle Tank (EMBT) at the Eurosatory 2018 arms trade fair, which was further developed in the following years and shown in various stages under the same abbreviation as the Enhanced Main Battle Tank.
The company generated sales of 3.2 billion euros in 2022 and has an order backlog of eleven billion euros. According to KNDS, the group's product range includes battle tanks, armored vehicles, artillery systems, weapon systems, ammunition, military bridges, customer service, battle management systems, training solutions, protection system solutions and a wide range of equipment.
