KMW presents the concept for a rocket artillery system of the future
Waldemar Geiger
Current Western rocket artillery systems have quantitative and qualitative disadvantages compared to Russian and Chinese rocket artillery because this capability has been neglected for a long time. Russia and China not only have more systems in numbers, they often also have greater ranges.
The rocket artillery experts at Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) are convinced that these disadvantages can be remedied in the short term if decisions are made quickly and appropriate funds are allocated for the development, qualification and procurement of the necessary weapon systems and weapons. “Somebody just has to start it,” a KMW representative told ES&T. He is convinced that the development and production of new and significantly more powerful rocket launchers could then take place faster than filling the corresponding ammunition depots.
