The Swedish Army took delivery of the first batch of 20 Patria 6×6 protected troop transport vehicles in an official ceremony on October 26th at the School of Land Combat (Markstridsskolan) and will operate them under the name Pansarterrängbil 300. Patria produced the vehicles in Finland, as the manufacturer announced.

Sweden is the third country to use this vehicle after Latvia and Finland. Germany joined the Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) development community in April. After a maturity analysis of competing vehicles, a decision will soon be made as to whether the Patria 6×6 or another vehicle will be selected to replace the 1 Fuchs transport tank (Soldier and Technologyreported).

Cross-border collaboration is at the heart of the joint CAVS 6×6 program, said Mats Warstedt, senior vice president of the Nordics market area at Patria. “The Pansarterrängbil 300, which is manufactured in Finland with significant participation from Swedish industry, is a prime example of the benefits of technical cooperation between the countries,” Warstedt continued.

According to Patria, Sweden wants to station the Pansarterrängbil 300 with the Livgardet Regiment in Kungsängen near Stockholm and further south in Sweden. In addition to the vehicles delivered, Sweden needs 400 vehicles.
