The chairman of the Europe Committee in the Bundestag, the Green politician Anton Hofreiter, has spoken out against the delivery of 48 Eurofighter fighter jets to Saudi Arabia and six A400M transport aircraft to the United Arab Emirates.

According to media reports, Hofreier is complaining about pressure from the Chancellery to approve the export of the aircraft. The export must be approved by the Federal Security Council, which also includes Green Party ministers. The aircraft are co-productions with other European nations, which have also taken the lead in the business.

Before the planes were delivered to Saudi Arabia, it was better to buy the machines yourself, Hofreiter said when asked by our editors. The Green politician is also willing to take on new debts for this.

In addition, Hofreiter calls for exports to be more strategically aligned. For example, the democratically constituted India comes into question as a buyer country. The United Arab Emirates, on the other hand, worked together with the Russian mercenary group Wagner, said the Green politician.
