Rund dreißig Jahre nach ihrer Einführung bedürfen die Komponenten der modularen Sanitätseinrichtungen (MSE) einer umfassenden Regeneration. Wie Rheinmetall mitgeteilt hat, wurde das Unternehmen vom BAAINBw beauftragt, die aus Funktionscontainern bestehenden MSE zu regenerieren und einen Teil davon umzubauen. Der Gesamtwert der Beauftragung liege im mittleren einstelligen Millionen-Euro-Bereich.

According to Rheinmetall's description, the MSE consist of rescue centers and operational hospitals that are used in the operational areas of the Bundeswehr. The units manufactured since the 1990s were procured in different variants. This includes functional containers for special tasks, such as the generation and supply of medical gases using a device supply container (GVC). The technical and medical equipment of the GVC supports the performance of operations in the adjacent operating area in the field. The container systems are CSC classified, stackable and therefore suitable for transport on container ships. The systems and their equipment will be adjusted in terms of their scope and functionality.

Die Durchführung der Maßnahme obliegt der 2019 gegründeten Rheinmetall Project Solutions, die für Aufgaben in der Einsatzunterstützung und mobile Einsatzlösungen spezialisiert ist. Zusammen mit der Tochter Rheinmetall Zeppelin Mobile Systeme soll die Regeneration der MSE bis Ende des Jahres abgeschlossen werden.
