The long-distance reconnaissance forces of the army
Sergeant Major Bernd Doll
The long-distance reconnaissance troop of the Bundeswehr was set up as an independent branch of the German army in 1962 because it was found that the reconnaissance forces of the time did not have the ability to ensure undetected permanent surveillance in enemy-held territory.
assignment
Long-distance reconnaissance takes place in special, isolated locations and in remote areas. After infiltration into the operational area, specific, clearly defined and time-critical information as well as messages of tactical and operational importance are obtained in a timely manner.
