On the digital battlefield, an instant picture of the situation is required. Quickly available, autonomous communication solutions form the backbone, because they are responsible for reliable and secure transmission. And that across all levels, from infantrymen, to land vehicles, to helicopters, drones or ships. Elbit Systems Germany therefore offers the SDRE-LynX familyon. “Only we offer a comprehensive and uniform communication solution for all these levels and skill requirements.E-LynXeven includes the capabilities of satellite communication,” says Thomas Nützel, Managing Director of Elbit Systems Germany.

The Software Defined Radio (SDR) family of productsE-LynXoffers multi-band capability (30MHz – 2.0GHz) and broadband waveforms, coupled with MANET capability for rapid connection of reconnaissance, guidance and impact. The soldiers' radios of the typePNR 1000are used at VJTF 2023 up to company level - also on board the Puma infantry fighting vehicles used there. Full duplex voice communication and data services are supported. Effective MANET (mobile ad-hoc-network) capabilities enable the rapid construction of "sensor-to-shooter" effect chains and the precise positioning of one's own forces based on the integrated Blue Force tracking capability in real time. The radios are equipped with advanced waveforms and data flow enhancement technology (Concurrent Flooding Technology), which can use MultiHop methods to significantly increase range and improve network agility and robustness with greatly reduced latency.

Thanks to the waveforms usedE-LynXoutstanding interoperability. Among others, 3G/4G ALE, SATURN and the European Secure Software Defined Radio (ESSOR) High Data Rate waveform are used. ESSOR is a high data rate waveform for secure radio communications that can be handled interoperably with participating nations' SDR radios. This will enable soldiers in Germany, Finland, Spain, Italy, Poland and France to communicate with each other without any problems. "All ourE-LynXRadio devices can therefore be integrated without any problems,” says Nützel.

For the soldier's radio PNR 1000Elbit Systems Germany offers an additional system for compact satellite communication (SATCOM). The new system uses a lightweight terminal, weighing less than 1 kg, which is compatible with theE-LynX SDR solution works together. E-LynX-Sat enables dismounted and detached responders to maintain robust and secure long-range voice and data communications services virtually anywhere in the world.

The global number of E-LynXusers has increased significantly in recent years. Thus, the system contributes to digital transformation in some key EU and NATO member states, including: Sweden, Spain and Switzerland.

A huge advantage of the E-LynXFamily is the consistent user interface. It is based on uniform apps that are the same for handheld radios, vehicle stations and the intercom system. This ensures efficient handling and a reduction in user training times.

The Vehicle Intercom Station (VIC 500) allows decentralized control of the communication system from different seats in the vehicle. Direct access to the radio is no longer required. The uniform UI can also be found there. With the E-LynX tactical router, other communication systems such as theHRM 9000HF radio can be integrated and controlled in the on-board network.

For long-range communication that canHRM 9000HF vehicle and command post radio can be used. It enables secure and reliable transmission even over long distances. This is possible thanks to the modular designHRM 9000can be configured from individual components into various systems at minimal cost - for example, vehicle stations or command post equipment. Due to the compact design and the very low power consumption, it is particularly easy to install in vehicles.HRM 9000was specially developed with a view to the requirements of special forces.

In addition to voice and data transmission, these communication solutions enable the integration of modern electro-optical (EO) systems for an optimized sensor-to-shooter cycle. This creates a secure and instantaneous overall system that provides the soldiers with information from a single source. As an example, images and videos can be received from drones, or images and information can be shared between the sniper and his spotter. Elbit Systems Germany provides the display and output devicesRAPTOR and the smartwatch SMARTVIEW(140 g; 24 hours autonomy) portable operating units with touch display for mobile use are available.

The system is completed by the night vision gogglesXACT NV33and the Head Up Display (HUD)XACT SE, with which the user gets all tactical information projected directly in front of his eyes.

The night vision goggles XACT NV33has been introduced in the Bundeswehr and the Dutch armed forces and represents the standard in the infantry sector.

The HUD XACT SEallows tactical information to be displayed and displayed directly in the soldier's field of vision. Augmented reality helps the user to optimally provide the correct and most important informationXACT SEShow HUD as a color overlay on the HD color display. In this way, the selection of information can be individually tailored to the needs of the soldier. ThatXACT SEHUD can be used as a stand-alone device during the day or in combination with night vision goggles (16 or 18 mm tubes).

The communication and reconnaissance systems are proven comprehensive solutions for the digitization of armed forces and security forces. For our systems, we provide holistic product support throughout their product life cycle.
