The Austrian truck equipment manufacturer EMPL is expanding its main German factory in Zahna-Elster (approx. 90 km north of Leipzig), which was built in 2007, with an 8,500 m² hall with 55,000 m³ of enclosed space. An assembly and production hall with adjoining rooms is created. There are also testing facilities such as a pump test stand, a test area for checking and testing foam proportioning systems, a vehicle test track and a tilting platform.

Production in the new hall is scheduled to start at the end of 2021. As a premiere, 61 fire fighting vehicles for disaster protection (LF-KatS), which the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) ordered on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), will be completed there. The series of new LF-KatS vehicles is realized on Mercedes-Benz Atego all-wheel drive chassis.

In addition to other special vehicles, such as: B. 2,000 pieces of UTF container frames for the Bundeswehr and over 400 vehicles for the Technical Relief Agency. Of these, 200 are multi-purpose equipment trolleys and 220 are transport platforms with a tarpaulin body. Over 30 roll-off containers for the transport of EMPL special transport vehicles for barriers and 18 group equipment vehicles for special units are currently being produced for the German Federal Police.
