The Austrian army will receive 30 additional Pandur 6×6 Evolution (Evo) wheeled armored vehicles. The Vienna Federal Ministry of Defense (BMLV) recently concluded a corresponding order with the manufacturer General Dynamics European Land Systems-Steyr. The vehicles now ordered will be delivered as personnel transport tanks (MTPz). They have a modular design so that if necessary, they can be converted into an evacuation vehicle to rescue wounded people, for example. Together with the 34 vehicles procured in 2016, which are located in the “Pandur Evo” competence center in Jägerbataillon 17 in Straß/Styria, the Austrian Armed Forces will operate a fleet of 64 new Pandur Evos in the future. The vehicles currently ordered are scheduled to be delivered in 2022 and 2023.

The Pandur personnel carrier has been in use domestically and in peacekeeping missions abroad since 1996. The modernized version of the Pandur MTPzUN, the Pandur Evo, better protects the crew from mine threats and explosive devices (IEDs). The vehicle can transport a total of eleven soldiers. It is made in Austria.

The Pandur vehicle family is available in 6×6 and 8×8 versions in terrestrial and amphibious versions and is the base platform for various weapon and equipment systems. GDELS-Steyr has built more than 3,000 armored vehicles (tracked and wheeled), of which more than 800 Pandur platforms are in operation worldwide.
