The Czech army has signed a framework contract for small arms and ammunition worth 2.35 billion Czech crowns (about 87 million euros). Deputy Minister of Armaments and Procurement Lubor Koudelka, who signed the contract for the government, stated: “Our goal is to modernize the army, but also to support Czech industry and preserve jobs in these difficult times. The framework agreement concluded will enable our soldiers to purchase up to 39,000 small arms from a renowned manufacturer by 2025.”
At maximum contract call-off, over the next few years the Army will receive more than 16,000 BREN 2 assault rifles, over 21,000 CZ P-10 pistols, over 1,600 CZ 805 G1 grenade launchers (substructure), nearly 100 CZ SCORPION PDWs (Personal Defense Weapons/submachine guns) and practice ammunition . In 2010-2016 the army had bought almost 40,000 small arms from Ceska zbrojovka (CZ).
