As IEA Mil-Optics GmbH announced today in a press release, the company has been commissioned to deliver a medium three-digit number of GPNVG night vision goggles (Ground Panoramic Night Vision Goggle) to the German Armed Forces. Also known as the "Qaud Eye".night vision goggles werden mit neuen ungefilmten schwarz/weiß Röhren der 3. Generation ausgestattet.

The GPNVG from L3Harris currently represents the highest evolutionary stage of residual light intensifiers and is therefore only used by special forces. Four separate and coordinated input channels are able to reproduce a horizontal field of view of 97°, which comes closest to the natural 120° field of view of humans. What doesn't sound particularly impressive in theory has an impressive effect in practice. Conventional glasses, even binoculars, always have the disadvantage that they create tunnel vision due to the limited field of vision. In order to perceive the situation, the soldier is therefore instructed to constantly turn his gaze to the left or right.

“Compared to conventional night vision goggles with a 40-50° field of view, lateral head movement is reduced and objects or people can be recognized much more quickly. With increased night vision, the security for the soldier is greatly improved,” saysAlexander Engelhardt, Key Account Manager at IEA Mil-Optics GmbH.
