The Netherlands and Denmark want to jointly buy 14 Leopard 2 A4 main battle tanks and hand them over to Ukraine. As the defense ministries of both countries announced today, the vehicles are to be delivered to the Ukrainian army as soon as possible after the overhaul, which is expected to take place in the first quarter of next year. According to the information, the Netherlands and Denmark will share the cost of purchasing the Leopard 2 A4 tanks, which will amount to around 165 million euros. Information on the origin of the tanks was not given.

The Netherlands and Denmark are part of the international tank coalition supplying Ukraine with main battle tanks. Earlier, the Netherlands, together with Denmark and Germany, bought Leopard 1 tanks for Ukraine. According to the Danish Defense Ministry, the first Leopard 1 should be available for training Ukrainian soldiers in a few weeks.

Tomorrow, April 21, the so-called Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) will meet again in Ramstein. There, the defense ministers of more than 50 countries will discuss the coordination of military support to Ukraine.

According to the Netherlands, it is also participating in two initiatives for the joint procurement of 155 mm artillery ammunition. On the one hand with 130 million euros in the initiative of the European Defense Agency (EDA). A further 130 million euros will go to the German joint procurement initiative.
