Aspects of the Russian main battle tank T-14 Armata
Rolf Hilmes
At the annual parade on May 9, 2015 to mark the end of the Second World War, Russia presented the new T-14 Armata main battle tank to the public, among other things. Around twenty prototypes were built for this purpose between 2010 and 2015.
A.At that time, some foreign heads of government sat in the grandstand, as Russia hoped to be able to record important export successes with the T-14. The focus was and is on countries such as India, Belarus, Vietnam, Egypt, Iran, Algeria and Kazakhstan. The presentation at the time was linked to grandiose announcements by Russian government officials that around 2,300 vehicles were to be produced between 2020 and 2025. On the one hand, Western experts were amazed by the interpretation and design of the T-14, on the other hand, the optimistic production announcements were seriously questioned. The combat weight of the prototypes has so far been specified as 48 tons. It should increase to 50 to 52 tons in the course of development.

For previous development
Testing of the new vehicles began in 2015. According to official Russian information, some examples of the T-14 MBT have also been tested in the war zone in Syria. However, this information is doubted by Western experts, especially since not a single official photo of this operation has been presented so far.
