Der Eagle V von General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) gehört zu den modernsten geschützten Mehrzweckfahrzeugen der Welt und ist sowohl in einer 4×4- als auch 6×6-Konfiguration lieferbar. Die Bundeswehr hat insgesamt 675 Eagle IV/V 4×4 in der Variante Geschütztes Führungs- und Funktionsfahrzeug 2 (GFF2) inklusive Beweglicher Arzttrupp (BAT) sowie 80 Eagle V 6×6 in der Ausführung mittleres geschütztes Sanitäts-Kraftfahrzeug (mgSanKfz) beschafft, weitere Varianten könnten in Kürze folgen.
The name of the vehicle - Eagle is the English word for eagle - is also design-wise program. The vehicle was designed by GDELS to resemble the Raptor's appearance, particularly from the front. Fenders, grille and lamps are designed to resemble the stylized head shape of an eagle. According to GDELS, the Eagle V 4×4 and 6×6 vehicles were designed as a vehicle family from the start. Both vehicle versions share common components in the area of the axles and the drive train. The engine and transmission are also from the same series, which offers users advantages in the areas of maintenance, repair and operation.
