Thailand is testing the THeMIS unmanned ground combat vehicle

Ende vergangenen Jahres hat die estnische Milrem Robotics das unbemannte Bodenfahrzeug THeMIS (Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System) an das thailändische Defence Technology Institute (DTI) geliefert, wie Milrem kürzlich mitgeteilt hat. Thailand will das Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) in Zusammenarbeit von Heer und DTI erproben und den möglichen Nutzwert für den Einsatz bewerten.

According to Milrem, the RCV consists of the THeMIS unmanned tracked vehicle, equipped with the remote-controlled R400S-Mk2HD weapon station from EOS (Electro Optic Systems) from Australia. The integrated weapon is the Northrop Grumman M230-Mk2HD externally powered 30mm autocannon, known as helicopter armament. THeMIS Combat UGVs can be armed with light or heavy machine guns, 40mm grenade launchers and anti-tank missile systems.

"The successful integration of a 30mm weapon system takes the firepower of THeMIS to the next level," said Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics.

Milrem sieht die THeMIS Combat UGVs mit der Möglichkeit zur direkten Feuerunterstützung für Manöverkräfte als Kraftmultiplikator.
