National and alliance defense has been the focus of political and military decision-makers again since 2014. In this context, the events surrounding the Crimean peninsula, which mark the high point of the changing relationship between Russia, NATO and the EU, are cited as the triggering event.
As a result, the NATO member states decided on the so-called Readiness Action Plan at the Wales Summit in order to be able to react quickly, decisively and jointly to future challenges.
