The Lower Saxony logistics center – the supply center for all Lower Saxony departments – has ordered four H145 helicopters from Airbus for the state police forces in Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as the state government of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania announced on August 25. Accordingly, both federal states should each receive two helicopters. Delivery is scheduled for the end of 2025 and in autumn 2026.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania joined the tendering process started by Lower Saxony, which led to the tendering of the helicopters in August 2022. The initiator was the then Interior Minister of Lower Saxony, Boris Pistorius. “The joint procurement saves us a lot of money, just as we had hoped. We can now purchase our two aircraft together for almost 40 million euros and thus save almost 20 percent compared to the expected costs for an individual purchase with list prices. This includes the costs for the training and further education of our pilots as well as the additional equipment," said Mecklenburg Minister of the Interior Christian level.

"Our cross-state cooperation saves money, effort and time in procurement and at the same time ensures important synergy effects in subsequent maintenance and servicing as well as in the training of pilots," added Lower Saxony's counterpart, Minister of the Interior and Sport Daniela Behrens.

A day earlier, Bavaria had presented its first newly acquired helicopters of the same type (ESuTreported). It can be assumed that the police helicopter configurations in the three countries share similar characteristics. Not least because of this, the image of a Bavarian H145 was chosen to illustrate the press release.
