DAMEN Naval, a Dutch shipbuilder and prime contractor for the construction of the German Navy's new generation of F126 frigates, is working closely with subcontractors Blohm+Voss Shipyards GmbH and Thales Netherlands BV to plan and manufacture the four ships. Construction of the ships will take place in German shipyards in Wolgast, Kiel and Hamburg, and the expected delivery of the first frigate is scheduled for 2028. The contract between DAMEN and the BAAINBw also includes an option for two more frigates.
