The Ukraine will soon be able to strengthen its airspace surveillance with a further six high-performance radars from the TRML-4D series from Hensoldt. As the manufacturer has announced, the radars are to be delivered as part of a 100 million euro order in the second half of 2023. Hensoldt also supplies the same radars as components of the IRIS-T SLM air defense systems, which Diehl Defense supplies to the Ukraine as general contractor. Hensoldt trains the Ukrainian operators on the radar devices.

According to Hensoldt's description, TRML-4D uses the latest AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar technology with multiple digitally shaped beams. It is capable of early detection of various types of air targets such as airplanes, helicopters and cruise missiles. This ensures the rapid detection and tracking of around 1,500 targets in a radius of up to 250 km.

The frigates and corvettes of the German Navy are equipped with Hensoldt radars, as are airspace surveillance and approach control at Bundeswehr airfields.
