During his visit to the sensor specialist Hensoldt in Ulm, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced today that he intends to establish long-term cooperation with the defense industry. This is a consequence of the turning point, said Scholz after a tour of the company's production facilities.

Scholz emphasized that Germany needs a strong Bundeswehr and an efficient armaments industry that is able to serve the wishes arising from the 100 billion euro special fund and the 2 percent target. According to him, Germany will continue to support Ukraine with arms supplies.

As examples he cited the Eurofighter's electronic warfare capability, the Pegasus signals intelligence system and the TRML-4D radar as part of the IRIS-T air defense system.

According to the company, more than 2,500 people are employed at Hensoldt's Ulm site in the development and manufacture of radars and defense electronics systems. The company is partly federally owned.
