Light, tactical Polaris all-terrain vehicles with superstructures for various fire support tasks were on display at the Enforce TAC. The vehicle manufacturer Diederich Engineering Systems (DES), in cooperation with Diehl Defense and Zippermast, has integrated mission equipment into the universal, highly mobile carrier vehicles.

At Diehl Defense there was an MRZR D4 with a weapon station on the upper roll bar (soldier-and-techreported) and a launcher for the Loitering Munition Libelle at the rear of the vehicle. The EOS weapon station is equipped with day/night optics and - the only one, said Diehl - with a radar for reconnaissance, target tracking and firing. The weapon is a 7.62mm machine gun from Dillon Europe, introduced into the Bundeswehr as the MG 6. The Europeanized version of the DillonAero M134D Minigun fires from its six barrels - electrically powered - up to 3,000 rounds per minute. This makes it suitable for combating drones but also for ground combat.

At the rear, the vehicle carries a canister with six active agents Libelle from Diehl. For the start, the active agent is lifted out of the container and flies with its two counter-rotating, electrically driven propellers to the programmed target area. Flight time to destination can be extended up to 25 minutes. The submunition is ejected above the target – primarily armored vehicles – and uses its own sensors to select a target and attack it from above with a projectile-forming charge. The technology used is derived from the SMArt artillery ammunition, for which Diehl manufactures the active part.

The Quad MV850 becomes a reconnaissance vehicle with a sensor head on an extendable zipper mast (Photo: Heiming)

At Zippermast, the MV850 could be seen as a reconnaissance vehicle. The retractable mast is housed in a compact box when lowered. At the push of a button, the mast is assembled into its characteristic triangular shape in the box and moves steplessly to the desired height. The load capacity depends on the selected cross-section and the extension height. A sensor head weighing six kg was on display. The mast includes the interfaces for connecting various end devices to the top of the mast. The manufacturer wants to ensure that users can use their existing sensors flexibly.

What the three solutions presented have in common is the highly off-road capable and at the same time fast carrier vehicle. The vehicles can be transported by air and, thanks to their good engines, are also capable of rapid troop deployments on the road. as they are demanded for the future middle powers.

According to its own statements, the industry is ready to start production quickly. The vehicles themselves are introduced. The mission equipment has also been introduced or is ready for series production. It should therefore be possible to place production orders within a short period of time and to make the products available to the troops in a timely manner.
