Thuringia state police order observation system from Hensoldt

Die Landespolizei Thüringen hat zwei neue Beobachtungssysteme zur Beobachtung und Aufklärung bestellt, die bei der Polizeihubschrauberstaffel Thüringen zum Einsatz kommen werden.

The airborne electro-optical system ARGOS II was developed for installation in helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles for surveillance missions. The stabilized system consists of a number of sensors and electronics in an interchangeable unit. These include a high definition (HD) MWIR continuous zoom thermal imaging camera and an HD multispectral TV zoom camera. A SWIR spotter camera provides additional multispectral capabilities, especially in difficult visibility conditions. The near-infrared (NIR) laser pointer improves the operating efficiency of the system. The ARGOS-II system can also be equipped with a dual-wavelength, high-power, low-divergence Laser Designator/Rangefinder (LDR). The LDR has selectable targeting and eye-safe ranging modes, and also includes a training mode. It is a stabilized 16-inch sensor tower weighing around 52 kg (HD version; 55 kg as HDT).

Hensoldt Optronics commissioned Intercopter GmbH in Taufkirchen for the integration. Intercopter, together with its subsidiary Advanced Aerospace Developments GmbH, is responsible for the development of the supplementary type certificate (STC), the production of the integration kit, the helicopter integration, the flight tests and the verification of the ARGOS II on the two Airbus EC145 (BK117-C2) helicopters by the Thuringian state police.

Neben der Thüringer Landespolizei nutzt auch die Bundespolizei den ARGOS II in ihren Helikoptern. Das Airborne Service Center von Hensoldt in Oberkochen kümmert sich um die langfristige und nachhaltige Wartung der ARGOS für seine Kunden.
