Experience with the multi-caliber model AXMC and the AXSR produced for the US market flowed into the new AX MKIII. The weapon was developed for military use in Europe and worldwide. It is basically designed for the caliber .338 Lapua Magnum. However, there are multi-caliber conversion kits that can be customized and adapted to the respective job. Other features of the AX MKIII include AI's patented Quickloc barrel system, an integrated interface for the Arca tripod adapter, and Barricade supports that allow the weapon to be better placed and locked onto cover. Improvements have also been made to the bolt action, ambidextrous three-position safety lever and interchangeable AR-style pistol grip. The system also includes the proven two-row ten-shot magazine, which is designed for all CIP loads.

The AX50 ELR comes standard in .50 BMG caliber, but can also be set up for .408 CheyTac and .375 CheTac. (Photo: Accuracy International)
