Finland has been the 31st member of NATO since April 4, 2023 - exactly 74 years to the day after the alliance was founded. The northern European country's accession to NATO was carried out under the impression of the war of aggression against Ukraine. Since joining, in the words of Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, “Germany and the Bundeswehr (…) have stood unwaveringly for the security and defense of Finland”.
With the country on the eastern flank of the alliance's territory joining, NATO will not only become larger, but also more powerful. The Finns have continuously modernized and expanded their military capabilities in recent years
