It is due to be presented at the end of March: the Operational Plan for Germany (O-Plan). It is the military portion of Germany's overall defense. But after decades of neglecting national and alliance defense capabilities, many problems must be addressed to actually achieve the O-Plan's stated goal: to be defense-ready to deter.
From March 31st there will be another military defense plan for the Federal Republic of Germany. The so-called Operational Plan for Germany took almost a year to develop in the Territorial Command (TerrFüKdo), which has been under the leadership of Major General André Bodemann since April 2023. The Bundeswehr said the development of the secret operational plan was part of the German response to the threat from Russia. TerrFüKdo says: “It is important to prepare for current threats and territorial defense in peace, crisis and ultimately also in war.”
