After successful proof of functionality in the laboratory, blackned's TacticalCORE communications platform was tested in field tests under combat-like conditions. With considerable documentation and support effort, TacticalCORE was subjected to system verification in operational use by the Defense Technical Service for Telecommunications and Electronics WTD 81.

According to a message from blackned on the professional network LinkedIn, this required the use of vehicles and real transmission media and routes. For this purpose, the company not only provided vehicles and personnel, but also took over all logistics and arrangements with departments in the Bundeswehr location in Dornstadt. The collaboration with the WTD and the Bundeswehr illustrated how different institutions can work together effectively to achieve common goals.

The system demonstration was based on a script with military scenarios. It involved a military march, hitting a barrier and exploring an alternative route. Coordination was carried out through TacticalCORE using voice, data and messaging across various channels including satellite communications.

According to blackned, the systems were already able to successfully provide proof of functionality in operational scenarios in the first week of system verification. The milestone demonstrated the quality and reliability of TacticalCORE's technology.

The project illustrates the importance of perseverance, determination and teamwork in the development and testing of highly complex systems, said blackned. It also underlines the need to put technology to the test to ensure it meets operational requirements.

Just four months ago, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) granted certification for the “Secure TacticalCORE System, Version 1.0”. This means that the system can be used by the Bundeswehr up to the secrecy level “VS – for official use only”, writes blackned. The approval also extends to the protection of EU information up to the “Restreint UE/EU Restricted” classification level and to NATO information up to the “NATO Restricted” classification level.

According to blackned, the TacticalCORE framework meets the highest security standards and enables critical connectivity to be achieved across multiple security domains. For this purpose, the security levels are separated from the transport levels in order to ensure all-round security throughout the entire operational area.

As blackned announced at the DSEI arms trade fair in London, TacticalCORE is free of restrictive barriers and exclusive access restrictions and promotes innovation and creativity (ESuTreported).

The TacticalCORE is part of the core of the Digitization of Land-Based Operations (D-LBO), the central digitization project of the land forces. blackned received the development contract from the Bundeswehr in 2021. The aim is to use the virtual network provided by TacticalCORE as part of the Division 2025 equipment.
