The order for almost 1,000 South Korean K2 tanks is probably the world's largest order of this kind. Poland not only wants to strengthen its tank units, but also its defense industry.

In mid-June 2023, Poland received the last batch of six K2 Black Panther main battle tanks, due for delivery in 2023, assigned to the 20th Mechanized Brigade of the 16th Mechanized Division. Poland now has 28 K2s, part of a total order of 180 tanks. Deliveries are scheduled for 2022-2025 and the contract value, including training and logistics packages, is EUR 3 billion. The overall framework contract covers the procurement of a total of 1,000 battle tanks. While the first lot (180 tanks) will come from South Korea, the following vehicles will be made in co-production, with the last lot to be made entirely in Poland.
