The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has commissioned Elbit Systems in a five-year contract to operate a service center for support and logistics for Direct Infrared Counter Measures (DIRCM) at the agency in Luxembourg.

As the NSPA has announced, support is needed for the systems that Elbit has supplied for the Multinational Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft fleet. The center to be established at the NSPA site is intended to provide the necessary expertise, equipment and maintenance as an essential resource for the fleet. The center will offer repair, spare parts and maintenance services to ensure that all systems function optimally.

“The follow-on support contract and the new maintenance facility at NSPA build on our excellent relationship with Elbit and ensure optimal support for our MRTT fleet,” said Jan Der Kinderen, MMF System Manager at NSPA.

Demand for DIRCM systems is increasing due to increasing threats to aircraft, said Oren Sabag, general director of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW. It is therefore necessary to provide NATO with a logistics and service center for the local repair and maintenance of our systems, Sabag continued.
