As announced by the BMVg in August, the Slovak Republic will receive 15 Leopard 2 A4 main battle tanks in exchange for combat vehicles of Russian origin, which the Republic of Ukraine will hand over to the Ukraine for defense against the Russian attack (ESuTreported).

In Brussels, representatives of the governments involved and the contractor Rheinmetall have now signed the contract for the delivery of the tanks, including an ammunition package as well as training and logistics services. As announced by Rheinmetall, the first vehicle is to be delivered in December. The remaining tanks are to follow by 2023. The company has already started work.

The Federal Republic of Germany will finance it from training funds for the Ukraine. The volume is estimated at a three-digit million euro amount.
