With the constant technological advances, the deadly threats on the multidimensional electronic battlefield are also growing. The challenges faced by armed forces on land, sea and air are daunting. Examples include the latest cruise missiles, fighter jets with powerful imaging radars, and long-range air surveillance and air defense radars. The list is endless, and what is worse, some of these systems end up in the hands of dangerous rogue states and non-state actors.

The stakes are high - the loss of highly skilled personnel, as well as costly platforms and equipment that are difficult to replace, can lead to failure or even defeat - so it is imperative that armed forces are equipped with the necessary means to survive and maintain their achieve goals successfully. To this end, the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) Group and its subsidiaryELTA Systems Ltd.leveraged its decades of technological heritage as Israel's radar and electronic warfare company and culture of innovation to develop the Scorpius family of state-of-the-art Electronic Warfare (EloKa) systems. The Scorpius family offers unsurpassed protection on land, sea and air and redefines the state of the art in electronic warfare and combat systems.

AESA and GaN – Pioneering Technologies

The Scorpius product range is based on ELTA's Active Electronic Scanning Array (AESA) technology. Consisting of a series of broadband solid-state transceivers, AESA enables a significant increase in both receiver sensitivity and effective radiated power (ERP), which far exceeds that of traditional electronic warfare solutions. In addition, AESA technology enables narrow multi-beam operation for receive and transmit, allowing the system to simultaneously detect and combat multiple threats across the entire field of view.

The Scorpius family also employs the latest Gallium Nitrate (GaN) technology, which offers significantly higher power density and efficiency than previous generation Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) transistors, maximizing performance and reducing power consumption.

Thanks to AESA's exceptional sensitivity, the Scorpius family is able to detect and track advanced threats such as low probability of intercept (LPI) radars and long-range targets. Additionally, with its superior ERP, Scorpius jams and interferes with enemy radars to unprecedented effect. Scorpius provides effective protection against modern air, ship and land-based threats, including fire control radars, search radars, active missile seekers and imaging radars.

Meet the Family

The Scorpius family includes the land-based electronic warfare systemScorpius-Gand the threat emulatorScorpius-Tfor EloKa training, the Navy's EloKa systemScorpius-Nas well as two airborne systems –Scorpius SPfor self-protection andScorpius EJEscort jamming.

Scorpius-G (ELL-8256SB)is a powerful ground-based system designed for long-range electronic countermeasures (ECM). The system is mounted on a rotating base and can be deployed from a single rugged all-terrain vehicle. It conducts precise electronic attacks using multiple beams and techniques against advanced fire control radars, search radars, AEW sensors and SAR over a large geographical area. Capable of simultaneously jamming numerous transmitters across its frequency range, Scorpius-G protects ground forces from both airborne and ground-based threats in its line of sight. In addition, the system provides powerful Electronic Support Measures (ESM) by continuously intercepting and tracking enemy electronic emissions and creating a detailed Electronic Order of Battle (EOB).

Scorpius-T (ELL-8257SB)is a pickup truck or service vehicle mounted multi-threat electronic warfare emulator that provides a realistic, signal-dense, multi-threat training environment for aircrew and electronic warfare operators and supports system testing and evaluation. Scorpius-T's capabilities are unparalleled, with various training scenarios challenging fourth and fifth generation fighter jets. With its multi-beam capability, based on Scorpius ESA technology, the system can simultaneously attack multiple training aircraft with a range of threat patterns, replicating the entire threat flow: from search, to acquisition, to tracking, to launch.

Scorpius-N (ELL-8256SB)is ELTA's powerful shipborne electronic warfare system that combines advanced Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) and Electronic Support Measures (ESM). It includes four compliant arrays, each containing a wide frequency range of transmitters and receivers, a control unit for processing and managing operations, and an operator console with maintenance and training capabilities. Scorpius-N gives naval forces the tools they need to counter current and future threats.

Thanks to sophisticated multi-beam and multi-tech energy management capabilities, Scorpius-N can efficiently jam multiple emitters, including all types of radars and RF seekers. The system detects and tracks, combats and disrupts multiple threats across a wide geographic area to create a protective hemisphere around naval forces. It disrupts the operation of long-range cloaked anti-ship missiles before they can approach and lock on to the ship. In addition, the system can effectively combat the latest generation of LPI radar systems used to generate target data. Finally, Scorpius-N is fully compatible with leading hard-kill systems. Its advanced capabilities significantly reduce the load on hard-kill systems, preserving their capabilities for further deployments.

The Scorpius technology enables exceptionally high EloKa performance in a compact form - advantages that the development of the systemsScorpius-EJ (ELL-8251SB) and Scorpius SP (ELL-8222SB)enabled. These systems are designed for use in combat and transport aircraft and, thanks to AESA and GaN technologies, offer unprecedented capabilities in relation to their respective size and weight class.

ELTA offers an extensive portfolio of powerful and field-proven payloads and a wide range of platforms: from strategic ISR satellites to multi-mission sensors for aircraft and UAVs to tactical drones and ground systems. The system solutions include integrated electronic warfare (ESM/ECM), radar, EO/IR, IMINT, launch detection systems (LDS), SAR/GMTI, SIGINT and cyber. The ability to deliver game-changing solutions such as the Scorpius EloKa family at a strategic and tactical level to customers around the world is a key factor in ELTA maintaining its position at the forefront of advanced defense electronics.
