France receives 109 CAESAR MkII wheeled howitzers

The French Defense Ministry's procurement and technology agency (Direction générale de l'armement, DGA) has ordered 109 CAESAR MkII wheeled howitzers from the French division of KNDS, Nexter, the manufacturer announced. The howitzers are scheduled to be delivered from 2026.

CAESAR MkII is the new generation (ESuT.) developed since 2021reported) the 155mm howitzer introduced into the army in 2008. The mobility of the 6×6 chassis from Arquus has been improved with, among other things, a 338 kW diesel engine and automatic transmission (ESuTreported). The crew cabin was better protected. The howitzer was also integrated into the SCORPION combat information system. An ammunition supply of 18 rounds is carried on the vehicle for the 155mm/L52 cannon.
