Czech Republic delivers 90 main battle tanks to Ukraine – USA and Netherlands pay
The three NATO partners, the Czech Republic, the USA and the Netherlands, want to continue to support the Ukrainian armed forces in their fight against Russia and to deliver 90 modernized T-72B main battle tanks, according to a joint statement by the defense ministries of the three countries. It goes on to say that the combat vehicles come from Czech industrial stocks.
The Czech industrial initiative, which is being closely coordinated with the Czech Ministry of Defence, is being funded by the USA and the Netherlands, amounting to around USD 90 million. The delivery of the tanks should start immediately after the conclusion of the contracts. According to the information, the first T-72B will be available to the Ukrainian armed forces before the end of December. Deliveries should then be completed in the coming year.
Laut Mitteilung ist das Vorhaben ein Ergebnis von Treffen der Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), der Ukraine-Geberkonferenz in Kopenhagen vom 11. August und einem Treffen der nationalen Rüstungsdirektoren Ende September.
