Digital skills, communication and data use are becoming increasingly important in defense due to the current situation in the world. A rethinking of communication via satellites to mobile ground devices is also taking more and more forms, and this is where mobile antenna carriers come into play.

SMAG Mobile Antenna Masts GmbH develops unique mast systems with advanced technology and can thus support customers worldwide in fulfilling their military orders.

Guy-free 40 meter antenna mast, Fth 40/9

After just one year of development, SMAG Mobile Antenna Masts (SMAG) has launched a new, guy-free 40 meter antenna mast.

The new system builds on the proven, robust quality of the previous mast series, but offers significantly more range. With a height of up to 40 m, the mobile antenna mast creates real added value for the user and thus meets the increased customer requirements.

The prototype of the Fth 40/9 type antenna mast was successfully tested at a military technical service center (WTD) and ensures reliable operation. We offer our customers a compact, low-maintenance and weight-reduced mobile antenna mast, which was previously not available for a mast height of 40m. Many purchase criteria were taken into account during development. Despite its enormous height, the mast pack is easy to handle and has retained the basic 20-foot dimensions that are important to many buyers. Particularly noteworthy is the fast, fully automatic assembly of the entire system, which only takes 6 minutes thanks to the innovative drive. Depending on requirements, the mobile antenna mast can be extended from 10 - 40 m and operated continuously at intermediate heights. The current mast configuration allows a permissible top load of 600 kg.

Highly efficient container antenna carrier system, type Ftm 25/6

The cutting-edge technology of the Ftm 25/6 antenna carrier system enables excellent mobility in rough terrain. Its outstanding advantages are obvious: the system retains its precision at the masthead despite high payloads of up to 1.2 tons. Even in strong winds, the Ftm 25/6 can be operated without tension cables. The fully automatic antenna carrier system is also suitable for operation at intermediate heights and can be used for any requirement within a very short time. The radar and antenna mount form a successful unit. During transport, the complete system is safely stowed away in a military container and cannot be seen.

Next generation mast system on single-axle trailer

The aim of SMAG is to further develop the existing mast system, loaded on a single-axle trailer, to a new modular design. The arrangement of cable drums, charger, generator, mast tip, batteries and control cabinets can be handled flexibly. A 10" ISO interface is used to connect the trailer to the mast system. This enables the user to decouple the trailer and the mast system from each other during maintenance or inspection intervals and to work on them in parallel. This reduces long downtimes to a minimum. This further development increases the performance of the user and the operational readiness of the mast system. The first devices will be delivered in 2023.

The mobile antenna mounts have been produced in Salzgitter since the beginning of 1974. More than 1900 antenna carriers are in use worldwide for military purposes such as communication tasks, observation, surveillance and disaster control.
