“The world in 2016 is a world in turmoil.” With these words, the Chancellor introduced the “2016 White Paper on Security Policy and the Future of the Bundeswehr”.

A good four years later, on February 9, 2021, Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, General Eberhard Zorn, confirmed in their “Thoughts on the Bundeswehr of the Future” the validity of the “analyzes, assumptions and deductions of that time. Many assumptions have since materialized. The resulting condensed overall security situation is (unfortunately, author's note) so far little publicized, but it is real. ”From this it can be deduced that“ Germany, due to its geographical location and its economic strength ”has a broad mix military capabilities ”must“ in order to be able to fulfill the roles as a leaning nation, first responder, troop provider and value partner. ”This includes a“ strong reserve ”.
