In addition to the well-known functions as active hearing protection and the possibility of connecting the ComTac to radio devices, theComTac VI NIBseveral other improvements and features. These include the so-called Natural interaction Behavior (NIB) and Mission Audio Profile (MAP) functions.

The NIB function enables natural face-to-face communication in noisy environments without relying on the use of an external communication device (radio). As soon as two ComTac VI NIB carriers face each other, the devices can be coupled with each other. The range of the system is up to ten meters, depending on the environment. In this way, short-range communication can be made possible even when there is a lot of ambient noise. For example, communication between soldiers in the hold of an aircraft can be ensured in this way without having to resort to on-board or other radio devices.

The MAP function allows the user to adjust and optimize the ambient listening function for four different scenarios. A total of four noise profiles - observation, patrol, conversation and comfort - were configured.
