The Romanian armed forces are to receive new trucks that will be produced in Romania. This provides for a contract that Iveco Defense Vehicles (Iveco DV) has now concluded with the Romanian government. The armed forces there are to receive more than 2,900 trucks of various designs. It is a tactical transport vehicle family with 4 × 4, 6 × 6, 8 × 8 chassis and an 8 × 8 tractor unit. There will be a total of 16 different versions. Around a third will have protected cabin superstructures. The new framework agreement has a volume of € 750 million.

The founding of Iveco DV Romania was officially announced on August 25, 2020 during the groundbreaking ceremony on the new factory premises in Petrești (DB), Romania.

In the presence of the Presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, Anca Dragu and Ludovic Orban, the truck assembly plant was inaugurated on Friday, April 9th, 2021. The Romanian armed forces had already procured 57 and 173 vehicles from Iveco DV in 2015 and 2016. In the first phase of the current framework agreement, a first order for 942 vehicles with a financial volume of € 216 million was concluded in 2020. The delivery period is four years. From the 301st vehicle onwards, production will take place in the Romanian plant with a capacity of 440 vehicles per year. The production from the Italian plants will also be supported by Iveco DV.

This high mobility truck series has run-flat tires and tire pressure control systems (Central Tire Inflation System - CTIS), camouflage lighting, multi-fuel diesel engines and cable winches. The chassis construction offers high off-road mobility and fording ability. The vehicles can also be moved in the C-130 by air transport. The cabins are protected with modular protective equipment (appliquè armor plates).
