After extensive functional, performance and quality acceptance tests, Rheinmetall has officially handed over the first Lynx KF41 infantry fighting vehicle produced in Hungary to the troops. Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky's participation in the handover underlines the importance of the project for Hungary.

“Peace requires strength, and in this regard, with Rheinmetall and in this alliance, we have gained real and serious strength, which significantly enriches Hungary,” Szalay-Bobrovniczkyx. This type of strategic partnership is more than a strategy or partnership - this is a real alliance, the Defense Minister continued. “Within this framework we hope to win the future for the Hungarians. We are building something that will last for future generations and in doing so we are strengthening our country.”

Dr. Björn Bernhard, Head of Rheinmetall Vehicle Systems Europe: “We are grateful to be able to support the Hungarian armed forces as an industrial partner in the Lynx lighthouse project. We have now reached an important milestone in the project.

The first Hungarian-made Lynx KF41 armored personnel carrier has now been handed over to the Hungarian army. At the same time, a total of 209 Lynx are now being produced at Rheinmetall in Germany and Hungary.

In August 2020, the Hungarian Ministry of Defense commissioned the Rheinmetall Group to supply combat vehicles and related services worth over two billion euros as part of its “Zrínyi 2026” initiative (ESuTreported). A total of 209 Lynx KF41s are to be made available to the Hungarian armed forces in seven variants: armored personnel carrier, command post vehicle, reconnaissance vehicle, fire control vehicle, mortar carrier, medical vehicle and driving school vehicle. As part of another development order awarded in December 2023 (ESuTreported), ist auch ein Flugabwehrpanzer Lynx mit Skyranger-30-Turm in Arbeit.

In the first production phase, Hungary will receive 46 German-made Lynx infantry fighting vehicles by the end of 2025. The first copy from this series was handed over in October 2022. Production of the remaining vehicles began at the end of 2023 as part of the Rheinmetall Hungary Zrt joint venture. between Rheinmetall (51%) and the Hungarian government (49%) in Zalaegerszeg. The vehicle we have just handed over comes from this production.

As Rheinmetall writes, the Lynx KF41 is characterized by maximum adaptability thanks to its modular design. This allows specific national requirements of the Hungarian customer to be met precisely. The state-of-the-art armored personnel carrier impresses with its scalable armament, various protective layers, upgradeable systems and the ability to take on new roles in just a few hours when fully converted.
