Poland is procuring 12 Lower-Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensors (LTAMDS) radars for the national WISŁA air defense program, Raytheon Technologies said in a statement. According to further information, the Polish Defense Minister Marius Blaszak also initiated the procurement of a further 48 Patriot launchers, which will also be supplied by Raytheon, as part of a "Foreign Military Sale" with the approval of the so-called Letter of Acceptance. Parts of the production will take place in Poland.

"Poland's expansion of the WISŁA program will strengthen the country's security and defenses against a variety of air and missile threats," said Tom Laliberty, President of Land & Air Defense Systems at Raytheon. With the launch of LTAMDS, Poland will become the first country after the US to complement the Patriot system with LTAMDS, which provides extended range and full 360-degree coverage to detect and mitigate complex, highly coordinated, multi-threat scenarios. According to Raytheon, LTAMDS exhibits greater performance against threats such as aircraft, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and hypersonic weapons.

As part of the first phase of the WISŁA program, according to Raytheon, Poland has already received four Patriot fire units.
