On June 1st, Airbus manager Alexander Reinhardt will become the new general manager of the Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry (BDLI).As the BDLI writes in a statement, the 55-year-old succeeds Volker Thum, who is retiring on May 31.
Reinhardt kommt vom europäischen Luft- und Raumfahrtkonzern Airbus, in dem er seit 2003 in verschiedenen leitenden Managementpositionen tätig war; zuletzt war er dort seit 2012 für den Bereich Politik- und Regierungsangelegenheiten verantwortlich, wie aus der Mitteilung hervorgeht. Vor seiner Zeit bei Airbus war Reinhardt Leiter der Abteilung Public Relations bei Krauss-Maffei Wegmann in München. Von 1987 bis 1997 diente er in der Bundeswehr in unterschiedlichen Verwendungen als Offizier der Gebirgsjägertruppe, zuletzt als Hauptmann. Er ist Major der Reserve.
Rheinhardt has been working in the aerospace industry for over 20 years and has excellent knowledge of the industry and of politics in Germany, said BDLI President Michael Schöllhorn. He has the prerequisites to actively support the issues that are important for the industry - the transformation towards climate neutrality and the strengthening of the industrial basis for the security of Germany and Europe. Schöllhorn also thanked Volker Thum for his "excellent work" over the past eight years.
