Zur Verschleißprüfung großkalibriger glatter und gezogener Kanonenrohre im Kaliber zwischen 120 mm und 155 mm erhält die Bundeswehr das neue lasergestützte Inspektionssystem RIB 4D von kappa. Auf der International Armoured Vehicles Conference in London hat kappa das Gerät vorgestellt.
The device is used to inspect the inner surfaces of gun barrels in installed or removed condition, to determine the surface finish and to determine the residual barrel life.
After installing the caliber rings, the device is attached to the muzzle or the breech. For testing, the RIB 4D is automatically pushed through the entire pipe. A laser illuminates the surface and a camera takes the picture. The result is saved and displayed as a two-dimensional image for checking. Signs of wear and damage can be assessed in this way. The evaluation of the results according to the specifications of the technical service regulation TDV018 is supported by the system software. The end result is the determination of the residual pipe life by the inspector.
Es ist beabsichtigt, den Bestand an vorhanden Rohrprüfgeräten in absehbarer Zeit durch das neue RIB 4D zu ersetzen.
