Norway is in the final stages of a project to procure a new main battle tank (MBT) to replace the current Leopard 2A4, as reported by Mittler Report Verlag GmbH and other media. The country has selected two finalists: the Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) K2 Black Panther, which was manufactured in South Korea and recently purchased by Poland, and the Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) Leopard 2A7 in Germany. The goal is to procure 82 new battle tanks at a total cost of around EUR 1.8 billion, with the new battle tanks scheduled to go into service for the first time in 2025.
