The two major battle tank developers from Germany and France, Rheinmetall and KNDS, which emerged from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter, more or less surprisingly presented the Panther KF51 and Enhanced Main Battle Tank (EMBT) tank concepts at the Eurosatory.
The aim is the German-French joint project Main Ground Combat System (MGCS), which is to replace the Leopard 2 and Leclerc main battle tanks in just over a decade. The solutions presented are not production-ready main battle tanks. Now it is a matter of intensively testing the future-oriented components in the network and further developing innovative operating concepts.
