The core for the surveillance of objects in space and their tracking (Space Surveillance and Tracking, SST) in the Space Situational Awareness Center is commercial software from GMV GmbH. As the GMV has announced, the core process infrastructure includes the most important SST functions. These include object cataloging, sensor tasking, collision avoidance, reentry prediction, fragmentation detection and characterization, SST data simulation, SST data preprocessing, and visualization, among others.
GMV rüstet nach Verträgen aus 2021 das German Space Situational Awareness Center (GSSAC) mit ähnlicher Software aus, um mit fortschrittlichen SST-Datenverarbeitungsalgorithmen zur Entwicklung des künftigen EU-SST-Katalogs unter deutscher Verantwortung und zur Wartung und Verbesserung des GSSAC-Missionssystems (GMS) beizutragen. Dies wird unterstützt durch Aktivitäten in weiteren sechs europäischen Ländern.
Relying on the core processes of GMV in the German Space Situational Awareness Center – howreported– OHB DC and supplements the GMV software with an operational level that ensures the interoperability of the system. Atos integrates software and hardware components, creates interfaces to external sensors and ensures the operational performance of the overall system.
