Since 2018, the "Digitization of Land-Based Operations" (D-LBO) program has stood not only in the army for the urgently needed modernization of the command and control capability of the land forces at the mobile level.
By merging the "Mobile Tactical Communication" (MoTaKo) and "Mobile Tactical Information Processing Land" (MoTIV) program into the D-LBO program, the prerequisites for the ability to conduct networked operations should be created.
D-LBO stellt dazu auf der taktischen Ebene sowohl für die mobilen Elemente (Soldaten und Fahrzeuge/Plattformen) als auch die wichtigsten Gegenstellen der verlegefähigen Elemente (u. a. Gefechtsstände, mit Schwerpunkt auf der Ebene der Verbände) die notwendigen IT-Services in einem sicheren, robusten, durchgängigen IP-fähigen sowie national und multinational interoperablen Informations- und Kommunikationsverbund (IuK Vbu) Land bereit.
Nachdem der Generalinspekteur der Bundeswehr im März 2020 den Lösungsvorschlag für den Anteil Kräftedispositiv 1 (KD 1) zur Auswahlentscheidung erhoben hat, befindet sich das Programm D-LBO offiziell in der Realisierungsphase.
The armor of D-LBO has to be seen as a paradigm shift. So it is not just a matter of simply replacing and supplementing radio devices on a mobile level, but rather a combination of the integration of a wide variety of information transmission systems (including UHF/VHF radio, HF radio, cellular networks 4G/LTE and satellite communication) in Platforms and the simultaneous provision of essential IT services (e.g. own position, situation picture, tactical and technical leadership, etc.) in the information and communication network country.
