In May of this year, the Bundeswehr celebrated its 50th anniversary of use of the Marder infantry fighting vehicle. Due to the pandemic situation, a corresponding anniversary event could only take place on October 20, 2021 at the Panzertruppenschule in Munster.
In addition to a lecture section with contributions about the development history and the measures of the current service life extension program - including replacement of the drive train (Liebherr engine D 956 with 563 kW output), integration of MELLS, new SPECTUS II driver vision system, new fire extinguishing system, new thermal imaging target device (RME Saphir 2.6 MK) - and information about the export of the Marder AFV (Chile, Jordan, Indonesia), an exhibition of nine exhibits took place in the outdoor area.
