Immer mehr Streitkräfte beschaffen Infanterietürme mit umfassenden Einsatzoptionen. So wurden bemannte und unbemannte Infanterietürme bereits für Litauen, Australien, Deutschland und Großbritannien beschafft bzw. werden entwickelt. Jetzt hat die Artec, das Rheinmetall/KMW-Joint Venture, eine weitere Variante eines Infanteriekampffahrzeugs (IFV) Boxer vorgestellt, wie der Verteidigungsanalyst Nicholas Drummond via Twitter berichtet hat. Demnach ist der Boxer IFV für ein Land im Naher Osten vorgesehen.

The mission module carries a Kongsberg RT 60 unmanned turret weighing around three tons. The main weapon fitted is the Northrop Grumman XM813 30mm cannon, an evolution of the Bushmaster autocannon for modern ammunition. The cannon can be used to fire programmable airburst ammunition, which can be used particularly effectively against flying targets, even at short range (such as UAVs). The cannon is prepared for new types of ammunition, eg guided ammunition with and without proximity fuses. A machine gun on a separate weapon station is provided as a secondary weapon. A light (7.62 x 51mm) or heavy (12.7 x 99mm) machine gun can be used. The turret is equipped at the rear with a launcher for MBDA's Missile Moyenne Portée (MMP) anti-tank guided missile.

The core of the targeting and observation device is a compact thermal imaging camera from the Catherine family by Thales.

Das von Drummond veröffentlichte Bild zeigt den Boxer IFV in Tarnfarben mit allen Waffen in schussbereiter Position. Daraus kann geschlossen werden, dass das Fahrzeug in seriennaher Ausführung zur Auslieferung bereitsteht.
